Take a Load off without Falling off

So, let’s address the elephant in the room- Happy Fall! Wait no, the other one. The one named Bri that you haven’t seen fashion content from since June. *gasp!* If you haven't noticed, I've been what seems to be MIA from justbriyourself.com for a few months.

If you're someone who's been following my blogging journey, you know this is completely unlike me. I like to post on a monthly basis. I ended up taking a hiatus without notice. I've been working on so much over these last few months. When I say that, I mean it in the best way possible. Was it a little odd not to post? Absolutely! I started off with doubts and honestly a little guilt.

Several months ago, during a sermon at church, the pastor speaking proposed a question along the lines of: “Would you let God have your undivided attention if it meant pausing what you want to do?” My blog immediately popped into my head. I was like “Mm that couldn’t be directed to me God, you know what this means to me.” It’s like God basically replied “LOL duh Brianna, let me make it better for you!”

Before we get deep, Quick question: What would you give up that you’re passionate about temporarily, not knowing what would happen but expecting improvement?

This summer, this month, this entire year has been phenomenal before I even made this decision. Taking these months off from posting on my website weren't because I was in a place of darkness or struggle, which is awesome. I simply wanted to take time to FOCUS. Focus on my blessings. Focus on God and hear him loud and clear. Focus on creating more unique content. And focus on adulting of course. Fine tuning my goals, what I need to improve on. But, how would I stop doing something I love so abruptly? Won't people think I quit? What if someone ruins all my hard work while I'm logged out? So many silly questions, all pointing to one answer: Have faith!

If you read my post on how important my faith is to me way back in March, you know I love me some God (yes you can laugh lol). The break I took was actually called a Fast. Sacrificing what I enjoy temporarily to let God in. Taking time to enjoy who you already are, where you are, and what you already have. The more time you spend being mediocre due to fear of someone else beating you, the less time you spend reaching your OWN full potential.

Is that question still at the front of your brain? Good. Let me tell you something now, seek the reality of that answer. If it's a goal/dream, chase it! Take time to develop a true passion, goal, and plan to see it through. Use this fall season is to start allowing your own tree (you) to appreciate the leaves you have right now, and shed the dead leaves that no longer apply to your life.

Don’t allow the world or yourself to apply unnecessary pressure to your goals. If you want it to be creative, genuine, and have longevity; take it seriously. Seriously enough to fall back and work on you. Taking a break isn't lazy nor quitting when you move properly during that break. Make it productive. Improve from within first. Increase your faith because in your journey of becoming successful in your own way, there will be people who don’t approve. There will be detours. But your vision is too important to let any of that get in the way. Someone is waiting for your vision to change their life.

The last couple of years, I've wanted to create an online brand/company besides the one you're reading right now. I’ve wanted to be an entrepreneur. I’m passionate about fashion, but even more passionate about inspiring and helping others. This fall season for me, means doing what I've prayed, fasted, and now invested in. I have permission to start now, and I couldn't be happier! I’m so grateful I took this time away from what I thought I had all figured out. What I thought I was killing! Low and behold, my winning season has just begun, and I pray you’ll take the time to prepare for yours.

I now have 2 Instagrams and will be launching a uplifting T-shirt line October 6th! Be sure to follow my second brand, @justexpressyourself on Instagram for Inspo and updates.
