HAPPY SPRING!
Check your Flaws + Insecurities at the Closet door this Spring!
Hey loves! If you're reading this, it's officially spring season. Which means brightening up your wardrobe, and showing off more skin right? Easier to say for some people than others. For a while now, I've been in the "others" category. You may look at the pictures in this blog post and assume that just can't be true. Where are the insecurities Bri?!
One area: my legs! I haven't always felt like my legs are flawed, in fact, in the past I loved showing them off at any sign of warm weather. But, over time they've changed and so have I! The times I had when I wasn't concerned about my legs, I was much smaller, and I didn't have a skin condition.
I'm not a tiny cheerleader anymore, and plaque psoriasis doesn't just go away. *shrugs* BUT I've decided to no longer allow my size or skin keep me from looking and feeling good. There's better attributes about myself to focus on! I was able to walk downtown during this shoot, and admire what I saw in the reflection of the stores and businesses. Even when purchasing this denim mini from Marshalls, I was a bit apprehensive, but I told myself go for it!
Although I'm able to make light of my flaws and insecurities now, it hasn't always been this easy. Between being more curvy now than I have ever been, and having a dry patch on the back of my calf, I couldn't dare show my legs. I've tried creams, lotions, and wished that the patch would just come off while scratching it during one of it's flare ups because it gets that uncomfortable. My doctor even had a sample sent in for a biopsy to make sure it wasn't cancerous. Talk about scary and a shot at my confidence!
I have other flare ups of this condition on other areas of my body, but they go away, and I can easily cover them when they're visible. Long story short, everyone has a flaw or two. No two pairs of legs are the same! Thank God.... because I so wouldn't want life to be like a crazy futuristic/horror sci-fi film where we all have the same legs and eventually go ballistic! (okay that was extreme, but you get the point haha).
So, again, HAPPY SPRING from my legs and I! Please don't hold back on yourself due to what you feel isn't pretty. Don't let size, color, skin conditions, etc stop you from looking AND feeling good. Take it one day at a time. One clothing piece at a time that's not your usual.
As always, I'm more than honored you found your way here! I hope I've encouraged you to feel good about every inch of you, and enjoy these warmer months!
If you look at my right leg, there is the infamous plaque! But, flaws and all, what a great shot!
XoXo,
